"Rio" Leads Friday Box Office Results


The eye-popping 3-D animated "Rio" led the Friday box office pack by grossing $10 million which puts it on track for a strong $37 million for the weekend.

The resurrected franchise movie "Scream 4" also did pretty well, taking the #2 spot with a $9 million take for the day which puts it on pace for a less than hoped for $20 million opening weekend.

The Robert Redford directed historical drama "The Conspirator", which opened in far fewer theaters, performed solidly with an estimated gross of $1.2 million and so is likely to land at #10 overall with $4 million.
